Phone Photo!!!!

I have a few photos from my cell phone...they are bit hazy but wonderful-I just had to share. So sweet...so sad.
so chunky!

brothers...I love this photo!!! Julian is the most fantastic older brother--what a wonderful new insite to a child. He's very fond of "his baby!"
About Julian...we are at the "Why?" age. Ashley is in Jamaica for 10 days and we have julian staying with us for the whole duration of her trip! YAY. She left today and Julian came over last night. Today we had a great day. Got up for breakfast, made cupcakes, painted a wall in his room, took a bubble-bath, watched The Little Mermaid, played with Oliver, made chicken Lasagna for dinner...just kept super busy in between baby feedings. The most interesting thing aside from my new onset of super patience is the asking of why? It gets to a point where I can't even answer him anymore...how do you explain bills to a four-year-old? Our conversations went mostly as follows...
J: Why did daddy have to go to work?
L: because he just has to...
J: Why?
L: So we can pay our bills and buy food...
J: Why?
L: because if we don't pay the bills or buy food we won't have electricity or water or food...
J: Why?
L: because food and water cost money...
J: Why?
L: That is a good question Julian...ask daddy!
...he is very curious :)
Tomorrow we are decking the porch out with spider webs and halloween lights! :)

Lets put it to a vote!

I need your opinion!

It is starting to get cold out and Oliver needs a winter hat.  We got Julian a cool gray and blue beanie with a visor and a tiny skull and cross-bones and I had originally wanted one with a skull and crossbones for O...now after some searching I can't decide.  I love them all.  I've found three I'm trying to decide between.

Please let me know which you prefer and of course the links are below...if you find one you like more I'm open to suggestions.

Making up for lost time...

The next few posts are to catch up for the last few weeks I've been without internet. I actually pre-wrote my blog because I knew my time on-line would be limited.

We are doing really well and I hope everyone else is great!

A Month in the Making

October 5, 2009

My son is 25 days old! How did that happen? (Wait…did I say “My son”—CRAZY (happy dance)
Each day I scramble in between feedings to throw on a load of laundry, wash a sink of dishes, put a sink full away, or if I’m lucky get something in my own stomach before the inevitable happens—Oliver is hungry. He’s quite a healthy little eater, a bit of gluten perhaps and expanding accordingly and while he is not a difficult baby—he’s pretty easy--in shear time alone spent feeding him, I am occupied with him all day and night…he eats, he poops, he sleeps, and before long …….he is hungry again.
When Oliver’s awake and attentive, we are so enraptured by him that it is nearly impossible to consider anything else to be of importance. How amazing to meet this little person who is so vulnerable and untarnished by life. He is different every day and yet the same unique individual that I was dumb-founded to meet in the first place. I can’t imagine it being any other way, but I’m stalled by how unusual it is to have such little control over something I created. He is mine, he is Bobby’s, he is his own person—and for that sake, he is just as much his grandparents, aunts and uncles in nature as he is me. There is no way to predict who a person will be with so many ingredients going into a pot…and yet here he is. I’ve taken hundreds of photos and still he is a surprise to me just the same.
He’s amazing, and I hope my presence is as much a gift to his life, as his is to mine. Oliver Stiles Blakley…25 days old with a social security number, a double chin, and a healthy appetite. Stay tuned…for there is more to come!

A Month in the Making

From our appointments...the results were as follows...
At birth he was 7 lbs, 13 oz, 22 inches
At four days he was 7lbs, 6oz, 22 inches
At two weeks he was 9lbs, 8oz, 22 inches.
He's in the 85% on height, the 65% on weight.
He's amazing and mellow and starting to be very attentive and curious. Os and my long-time friend Kara

Fall is here

My Mom's amazing cob and straw-bale homes...sustainable living...twelve thumbs up.

The Topeka Zoo

For Julian's fourth birthday we scooped up Jack and spent a day at the Topeka Zoo. What a perfect little family zoo. We had a perfect day...the only upset was missing the train ride which sold out as we got there...Julian took it in stride and we had a wonderful day. The boys practically had the whole zoo to themselves and were angels, we all enjoyed ourselves.

The first month at home.

Our first month with Mr. Oliver...Os. A day or two after coming home...one of the few photos of Os and Mommy.
Julian and his rad friend Henry hanging out (covered in red ink) at the hospital. Laura and Henry brought Julian a great book as a gift and it was a great treat to watch them play and fill my room with laughter...and man--Henry has an amazing Momma! Laura is fantastic.

My angel...sleeping and looking like his Daddy

brothers...three day old babies make four-year-old boys look huge.

Newborn onesie (which I assure you he cannot wear any more)

Cousin Austin (my amazing nephew) meeting his new cousin...still in his hospital "gown"...in a year and a half the four month age difference will be hardly noticeable.
Oliver and Aunt Amy (please come back and live with us...here we are pleading...we were both in tears after we dropped you at the air port).

Oh man...I love my son.

baby toes... enough said

bad ass baby in cow print clothe diaper

cool as a cucumber.

He's a person...he gets mail...I made him from scratch and he has a social security number and a name and he's mine...wow!
all smiles

He's a mellow man, he hangs out and checks things out and is so open and new and fetus-like...Ah, Oliver

A first time with all three boys cuddling together...sigh...Oliver was four days old.
